The 29th edition of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), a trade fair dedicated to the audiovisual industry that has become an leading event in the sector in Asia, has opened. With over 760 exhibitors from 34 countries, the organisers anticipate the participation of over 7,000 visitors. The Italian Pavilion, launched by ICE Agency in collaboration with Cinecittà for DGCA-MiC, brings together 13 Italian companies, showcasing the excellence of Made-in-Italy in film, television and documentary production, sales and distribution industry: Fandango; K+; Lux Vide; Minerva Pictures; Pilgrim; Piper Film; Rai Cinema International Distribution; Showlab; Studio Campedelli; True Colours G.F.; Vision Distribution, Intramovies; Volos Films Italia.
Hong Kong confirms itself as a regional hub for the purchase, sales and distribution of Asian films, and TV series and for the promotion of Western audiovisual products in the Chinese and South-East Asian market, as well as an excellent platform for co-production, and for the development of high-tech projects for the sector’s growing digitalisation. The Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong, Carmelo Ficarra, together with Roberto Stabile, Head of Special Projects of the DGCA, took part in the opening ceremony and met with Eric Chan, Chief Secretary for Administration and Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Hong Kong Government, during their visit to the Italian pavilion. On the occasion of the fair, DGCA-MiC, in collaboration with the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and HAF – Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum, organised meetings between Italian companies and local counterparts to explore collaboration opportunities in various fields, including co-productions. Italy is participating in the Hong Kong Asia Financing Forum with a co-production project with Hong Kong and Malaysia.
