Hong Kong is one of the most important economic and financial hubs in South East Asia.

On this page we have collected the most useful websites to offer visitors an overview of the institutional and regulatory framework of Hong Kong, in order to better orientate between the public and private sectors.

Hong Kong Government. The portal of the Government of Hong Kong, containing direct links to the main Government sites.

Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department. The Hong Kong Customs website. This website contains a section dedicated to the Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program. Foreign companies in Hong Kong wishing to join the Program must pass an assessment by Hong Kong Customs. After the assessment eligible companies are issued a certificate of qualification that guarantees savings in time (and in costs) thanks to a simplification of the inspection procedures of the goods that enter and leave Hong Kong and the concession of a preferential lane in customs clearance. The Program has been implemented with the following countries: China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Canada and Mexico.

Commerce and Economic Development Bureau. The website of the Hong Kong SAR Commerce and Economic Development Bureau.

Inland Revenue Department. This website collects on-line all documents and information related to the Hong Kong SAR tax system.

Immigration Department. This website provides all information on the services and procedures in force in Hong Kong for residents and anyone wishing to apply for a residence visa.

Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Government authority responsible for maintaining Hong Kong’s monetary and banking stability.

Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department. The Statistics Department website contains updated statistical data on Hong Kong economy and social structure.

Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is the entity responsible for the promotion of foreign trade and the main organizer of fairs and exhibitions in Hong Kong.

Invest Hong Kong. InvestHK is the Government investment promotion agency and provides assistance to foreign investors.

Certified Public Accountants. Official website of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Its role is to register and grant practicing certificates to certified public accountants in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. This website provides useful information on the main activities carried out by the Chamber for the business community in Hong Kong.

Federation of Hong Kong Industries. The Federation, founded in 1960, promotes the interests of the Hong Kong industrial sector and facilitates trade opportunities.

Hong Kong Exporters’ Association. Useful information on dates, sectors and places for anyone wishing to visit or participate in trade fairs held in Hong Kong, China and the world.

Hong Kong Association of Banks. Created in 1981, it is the self-regulatory body of the banking system in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Coalition of Service Industries. Founded in 1990, the Coalition is the major private sector voice for Hong Kong’s services industries.

Companies Registry. The Companies Registry contains information that is organized efficiently and clearly and that can be consulted for a fee.

The legal system of Hong Kong. Information on the legal and judicial system of Hong Kong. The website provides useful information on legal aspects related to sales, marketing, production, distribution and trade disputes.

Hong Kong Legal Information Institute. The website provides information for free on legal matters not only concerning the Hong Kong SAR, but also Taiwan, Macao and the People’s Republic of China.
