The 41st Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF), a leading event on a global scale for the leather industry, opened in Hong Kong. Organised by INFORMA Markets, APLF has always been a leading event for this sector, capable of attracting thousands of visitors every year not only from China, but from all over South-East Asia, where the demand for high quality products is constantly growing.Over 100 Italian companies are taking part in the fair, 40 of which are gathered in the national pavilion curated by the ICE Agency, in collaboration with the trade association ASSOMAC. The figures reflect the importance of this fair for Italian industry: in 2024, Italy was once again the city’s leading supplier of leather processing machinery, with a 77.5% share of total imports (+124% over 2023). Consul General Carmelo Ficarra, during his visit at the fair, underlined the positive feedback from the sector operators on Hong Kong’s strategic value as a hub in Southeast Asia and the city’s role as a gateway for ‘Made in Italy’ to mainland China and the entire region.
