“UNESCO Hong Kong Association (UHKA)” and “Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development (HiESD)” invite Italian high school students to take part in the “2025 Secondary School Model UNESCO International Conference” to be held in Hong Kong from 18 to 21 July 2025.
Model UNESCO is an educational event open to students from all over the world, where participants play the role of representatives of UNESCO Member States, simulating meetings that take place within the organization. Aiming at promoting the objectives of the UNESCO “Education for 2030” agenda and the “Future of Education” initiative, the conference encourages students to seek multidisciplinary partnerships, propose innovative solutions and thus develop a global perspective on current issues.
The Model UNESCO initiative in Hong Kong will focus on the theme of “Smart and Sustainable Cities”, with particular reference to the use of digital technology to promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. The working language of the conference will be English.
The deadline to enroll in the preliminary session (which will be held remotely) is 11 May 2025. Interested schools must register at the following link https://unesco.hk/web/munesco-conference-city/#register, answer two questions on the theme that will be discussed during the conference (35% of the final score) and submit a 3-minute presentation video (65% of the final score). Based on the outcome of this phase, the short-listed students will be invited to Hong Kong to take part in the Conference.
Individual applications are accepted if submitted as a “Team” of at least two students.
The programme includes also two training sessions:
– 22 – 23 March 2025: Model UNESCO Student Coordinator Training (optional)
– 5 – 6 April 2025: Thematic Online Webinar
The organizing committee will cover the costs of food, accommodation and transfers on site (flight tickets and travel insurance are not included).
