The Salone del Mobile di Milano celebrates 25 years of SaloneSatellite by coming to Hong Kong with the exhibition ‘SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection 1998-2024’ at the Arts Pavillion in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Organised in collaboration with Designworks Foundation and International Design Furniture Fair Hong Kong with the support of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, from 11 to 21 November, the exhibition presents a selection of over 100 works, which are part of the permanent collection of SaloneSatellite held at the Artwood Academy in Lentate sul Seveso. The Hong Kong exhibition offers an overview of the evolution of design over the last 25 years, presenting works from the first editions of the event and new content promoted by designers of the most recent generations for the world of furniture and everyday objects.
This exhibition was curated by Marva Griffin Wilshire, Founder and Curator of SaloneSatellite, while the layout and graphics are designed by architect Ricardo Bello Dias, both present in Hong Kong for the opening ceremony, together with the President of Salone del Mobile Milano, Maria Porro, the General Manager of Salone del Mobile Marco Sabetta and Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of the Department of Architecture and Design at MoMA in New York and President of the SaloneSatellite Award jury.
The event shows the relevance of the Asian market for the Italian furniture and design sector, which is enriched by the dialogue between different cultures and design visions. China remains a strategic context that offers interesting business opportunities for Made in Italy, and Hong Kong qualifies as a privileged connection point in a leading sector of Italian exports.
