The exhibition ‘Memento’ by Milanese sculptor Matteo Pugliese opened in Hong Kong as part of the initiatives that support contemporary Italian art. The project was developed through a collaboration between the Consulate General of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery in Hong Kong, which hosts the Italian artist’s works until 2 November in the spaces set up at Tai Kwun, Central. This is Matteo Pugliese’s third solo exhibition in Hong Kong with more than 40 works from his production over the last twenty years, including the ‘Extra Moenia’, ‘Guardians’ and ‘Beetles’ series, as well as his most recent creations ‘Pachamama’ and ‘Broken’. The project is part of the programme of the Italian autumn festival ITALIA on Stage, presented by the Consulate General and the Italian Cultural Institute. During an art talk, Matteo Pugliese spoke to the public about his career and the main features of his production, with strong references to Italy as a source of inspiration and the use of classical materials including bronze and marble, together with modern elements. His artworks synthesise classical realism, contemporary sensitivity and universal values.
