Consul General Carmelo Ficarra attended the flag presentation ceremony organized by the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, to greet the 13-member Hong Kong delegation departing for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games. The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hong Kong, Miss Rosanna Law, highlighted the growing interest in winter sports and the increasingly international profile that Hong Kong athletes are developing.
The selection of four athletes set to compete in the upcoming Olympic events is a source of pride for the city and represents a significant motivational driver for other young athletes, as well as for the broader development of sport within the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
On the same day, Consul General Ficarra welcomed to the city the Italian national wingfoil team—Maddalena Spanu, Nicolò Spanu, Alessandro Josè Tomasi, Francesco Cappuzzo, Ernesto De Amicis, and Gregorio Pugliese—who will compete in the 2026 Wingfoil Racing World Cup – Hong Kong from 4 to 8 February.
