At the initiative of the Consulate General and the Italian Cultural Institute, the Italian contemporary dance company KOMOCO, based in Florence and founded in 2022, was invited to perform PUPO, choreograpghed by Sofia Nappi and co-produced by the artistic production house Sosta Palmizi, for the celebration of the Italian National Day 2025 at the Hong Kong City Hall. An ensemble of six young dancers offered an audience of more than one thousand guests a reinterpretation of the story of the iconic character Pinocchio, taking the audience on Pinocchio’s journey of personal growth, self-awareness and transformation through a choreographic experience, which was the result of intense artistic research. In his welcome remarks at the celebrations, Consul General Carmelo Ficarra mentioned the salient features of the Hong Kong-Italy bilateral cooperation, recalling the main appointments scheduled for this autumn: the planning and organisation of the ITALIA on Stage festival, ‘Think Business, Think Hong Kong’ – a Hong Kong’s economic, trade and financial promotion to be held in Milan, and the partnership with the Hong Kong Design Centre for the organisation of the next Business of Design Week in December 2025. On the same occasion, 10 Ferrari cars were displayed at Edinburgh Place outside the City Hall, in collaboration with one of the Ferrari Owner’s Associations in Hong Kong, with the aim to pay tribute to the 55th anniversary of Italy-China Diplomatic Relations.
