The Italian Sports Day 2025 took place in Hong Kong under the coordination of the Consulate General of Italy, in collaboration with members of the Italian community and local sports associations.

Two dedicated open days—one focused on yoga and the other on fencing—attracted around 100 participants, with the support of Italian coaches based in Hong Kong, including Maurizio Zomparelli and Giacomo Fanizza, athletic trainers for the Hong Kong, China national fencing team, who have received high-profile accolades at recent Olympic and World Championship events.

The Italian Sports Day program also featured the second edition of the open water swimming competition, covering distances of 400 and 1,500 meters, co-organized with Generali and Jaked, and supported by the Splash Foundation and Southside Swimming. The event brought together 200 swimmers, both amateur and professional.

In a statement to the press, reported by the South China Morning Post, Consul General Carmelo Ficarra emphasized the importance placed on sports diplomacy and the promotion of the values of friendship and fair play that arise from competition. He also highlighted the significant Made in Italy component that stems from the intersection of sport and industry.

The Consul General further recalled the major international sporting events that Italy will host in 2026: the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan-Cortina, and the Mediterranean Games in Taranto.
