The ‘Fusion Final’ exhibition, the third and final phase of the Fusion artistic exchange project, initiated by the Arkad Foundation in collaboration with the City of Seravezza (Lucca), the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Hong Kong, opened in Hong Kong. The project, which began in 2021, involved ten sculptors-five based in Italy and five based in Hong Kong-who collaborated in pairs to create 38 marble and wood sculptures, united by the idea of “fusing” materials, languages and artistic sensibility. The Italian sculptors worked with marble from the Apuan Alps and the Hong Kong sculptors with fine Asian woods, creating complementary marble and wood elements, finally assembled into unique and original artistic productions. For the first time, all sculptures that were born from this extraordinary experience, which was able to overcome the limits imposed by the distance and the pandemic, are exhibited at the prestigious Hong Kong Arts Centre in a single exhibition, which will be open until 27 April 2025. This initiative is part of the Made in Italy Day celebrations: the enhancement of the excellence and ductility of Italian marble workmanship was the focus of an art talk featuring the artists and curators, who, after a guided tour of the exhibition, shared with the local audience the creative journey of the project, from the first long-distance collaborations to the 2024 symposium in Seravezza, where they finally got to work side by side to finish the marble and wood works.
