An opera concert organized in collaboration with the Academy of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna marked the celebration of Italy\u2019s Republic Day in Hong Kong, featuring four Academy singers\u2014Cecilia Taliano Grasso (soprano), Gaia Cerri (soprano), Simone Fenotti (tenor), and Guo Xiaotong (baritone, a Chinese student based in Italy)\u2014accompanied by pianist Amedeo Salvato. The programme, dedicated entirely to the Italian operatic repertoire, featured works by Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi, and Puccini.<\/p>\n
The event was organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, within the framework of its partnership with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.<\/p>\n
The concert marked the Academy\u2019s first appearance in Asia and provided an important opportunity for its students and recent graduates to showcase their talent to an international audience. Their performance was warmly received and helped raise the profile of both the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the city of Bologna.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Consul General Carmelo Ficarra highlighted the key achievements of Hong Kong\u2013Italy bilateral cooperation, recalling major initiatives already undertaken and those planned across the economic, trade, cultural, social, and sporting sectors.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was also attended by Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan, who reflected on the main areas of cooperation between Hong Kong and Italy and underscored the strength of the ties linking the two sides across a wide range of fields of mutual interest.<\/p>\n
The Superintendent of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Elisabetta Riva, emphasized the importance of international artistic cooperation, particularly in high-profile cultural settings such as Hong Kong.
