This Consulate General will update the public as soon as exact information is made available.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When ETIAS enters into force, visitors to Europe from 60 visa-exempt territories, including Hong Kong and Macao, will be required to obtain a travel authorization called\u00a0<strong>ETIAS<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>(European Travel Information and Authorisation System)<\/strong>\u00a0to enter 30 European countries, including Italy, for stays under 90 days in any 180-day period. Visitors can leave and return to these Countries at any time, as long as this time limit is observed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Travelers can apply online for ETIAS permit via the\u00a0<strong>official<\/strong>\u00a0website\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/travel-europe.europa.eu\/etias_en\">https:\/\/travel-europe.europa.eu\/etias_en<\/a>\u00a0or the ETIAS mobile application. Once the procedure is completed and approved, applicants will receive ETIAS authorisation number via e-mail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The travel application and related authorization will be linked to the applicant\u2019s passport and will be\u00a0<strong>valid for up to 3 years<\/strong>\u00a0(depending on when the passport expires). If the applicant gets a new passport, a new ETIAS authorization is needed. Passports should be valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure from any ETIAS Country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applications will need to be uploaded at least\u00a0<strong>96 hours before flying<\/strong>\u00a0to Europe and will cost\u00a0<strong>7 Euros\u00a0<\/strong>(approximately 58 HKD\/MOP).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For people under 18 and over 70 years of age it will be free of charge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ETIAS system does not introduce any changes in the visa policy to enter Italy for Hong Kong and Macao passport holders. Hong Kong and Macao passport holders\u00a0<strong>do not need visa<\/strong>\u00a0if they travel to Italy for tourism, study and business for stays under 90 days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As of mid-2025 ETIAS has not been put into force yet and no exact date is known for its implementation.
