ENTRY REGULATIONS TO MACAO

MACAU: COVID-19. Updated 16/11/2021

Starting from 25 March 2021, foreign nationals who are not permanent residents of Macao have been banned from entering Macao.

The following conditions apply to non-resident citizens from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan:

It is forbidden to enter Macau for residents of Mainland China in Hong Kong or Taiwan who have been abroad within 21 days prior to arrival in Macau.

  • Entry is permitted if they have been in Hong Kong in the previous 14 days and present a negative Covid19 (PCR) test certificate issued within 24 hours prior to arrival in Macao, however a 14-day quarantine in a centre designated by the local authorities remains mandatory;
  • If they have been in Taiwan within 21 days prior to arrival in Macao, they must present a Covid 19 (PCR) negative certificate issued within 24 hours prior to boarding the flight for Macao, with a mandatory 21-day quarantine at a centre designated by the local authorities;
  • If they have been in Mainland China within 14 days prior to arrival in Macao, they must present a Covid19 (PCR) negative certificate, issued within 7 days prior to arrival in Macao, unless they are coming from the provinces listed on the following link for which a 14-day quarantine is required.

The following categories of people can apply for an exemption from the entry ban by writing to the Director of the Health Bureau with the necessary supporting documentation:

  • non-permanent Macao residents who are not residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and who have stayed abroad in the previous 14 days;
  • non-permanent Macao residents who are not residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and who have stayed in the previous 14 days in Mainland China, and who are spouse or child of a permanent resident of Macao;
  • non-permanent Macao residents who are not residents of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan and who have resided in the previous 14 days in Mainland China and have the status of non-resident with permission to stay for work purposes, including their dependants;
  • non-permanent Macao residents who are not residents of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan and who have stayed in the previous 14 days in Mainland China, with residence permit;
  • non-permanent Macao residents who are not residents of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan and who have stayed in the previous 14 days in Mainland China and are enrolled in tertiary education institutions;
  • non-permanent Macao residents who are not residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and who have resided in the previous 14 days in Mainland China and are required to participate in important business, academic or professional activities.

Maritime services between Macao and Hong Kong International Airport, which is only accessible from Macao via the Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macao Bridge, remain suspended. Macao's airline "Air Macao" has reactivated its routes to Taiwan and Seoul.
