UPDATE ON THE ENTRY RULES IN ITALY

1. CITIZENS COMING FROM HONG KONG AND MACAO
Italian, EU and foreign citizens who have stayed in Hong Kong or Macao during the 14 days preceding their entry into Italy will be allowed to enter Italy without the need to specify the reasons for travelling.
If they are vaccinated with a vaccine recognised by the European Medicines Agency (currently Comirnaty by Pfizer-BioNtech; Vaxzevria by AstraZeneca; Spikevax by Moderna and Janseen by Johnson & Johnson), they must present the followings to the carrier at the time of boarding and to any other competent authority in Italy:

  1. a certificate issued by the competent health authorities of vaccination against Covid-19 or a Covid-19 green certificate issued by an Italian or EU authority at the end of the prescribed vaccination cycle;
  2. a negative result proof of a molecular or antigenic swab test carried out within seventy-two (72) hours prior to entry into Italy and;
  3. an on-line locator form (also called digital Passenger Locator Form) filled in every part.

If they are NOT vaccinated with a vaccine recognized by the European Medicines Agency (currently Comirnaty by Pfizer-BioNtech; Vaxzevria by AstraZeneca; Spikevax by Moderna and Janseen by Johnson & Johnson), they must:

  1. present to the carrier, at the time of boarding and to any other competent authority in Italy, a negative result proof of a molecular or antigenic swab test carried out within the seventy-two (72) hours preceding entry into Italy;
  2. present to the carrier, at the time of boarding and to any other competent authority in Italy, the on-line locator form (also called digital Passenger Locator Form-dPLF) filled out in every part;
  3. undergo fiduciary self-isolation and self-monitoring (informing the competent ASL to activate the monitoring) at the address indicated in the dPLF, for a period of five (5) days and;
  4. carry out an additional molecular or antigenic swab test at the end of the five (5) day isolation period.

An informative survey based on current Italian legislation is also available. Please note that this simulator has no legal value and the result obtained does not guarantee entry into Italy or the country of destination.
It is always advisable to check the transit conditions in each country of airport stopover in relation to the COVID tests requirements, possible quarantine and any useful updates.

On 22 July, the Italian government decided to extend the state of emergency in Italy until 31 December 2021 due to the health risk associated with the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and its associated pathology, COVID-19.
