Fiscal Code (Codice Fiscale)

The Italian Fiscal Code, officially known as Italy's
Codice Fiscale, is an alphanumeric code of 16 characters used to identify unambiguously individuals or companies in Italy irrespective of their residency status. It is now mainly used to uniquely identify individuals in the health system or as parties in private contracts.

The fiscal code can be requested by Italian citizens or foreigners resident overseas to the competent Consular Office.
