The Visa Office receives applicants only by appointment from Monday to Friday - from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm.

To apply for a Visa, it is necessary to make an appointment, through our online system:

To make an appointment, any first time applicant must provide his/her personal details and an email address (these are essential requirements). An automatic reply confirming the applicant’s registration will be sent to his/her email address; afterwards he/she may activate his/her personal account and access the online booking system.

Once registration is successfully completed, the personal account can be accessed by entering the username/password, clicking on “Login”. Afterwards click on "Make your reservations" and then on "Visas".

The appointment system will function properly only if personal details are filled in correctly.

All applicants are strongly advised to read carefully the information/procedures specified on the website for the type of visa required so that all necessary documents can be submitted at the counter on the day of the appointment.

No online booking is necessary for collecting visas.

Once the Visa Office has confirmed that a visa has been issued, applicants may collect their visas on Tuesday and Thursday from 2.30pm to 3.00pm.

The visa holder may delegate another person to collect the visa on his/her behalf in writing.  The appointed person must show a written proxy, his/her identification document and a photocopy of an ID document of the visa holder.


Holders of HKSAR passport (issued by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) and Macao SAR passport (issued by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region) are exempt from visa requirement when entering the Schengen Area for stays no longer than 3 months ONLY for tourism and business.

Please also note that BNO passport holders are exempt from visa requirements to enter Italy for tourism or business for stays no longer than 3 months.

Documents for visa applications (original and one photocopy) must be submitted  to our office in person by the interested applicant. Go-betweens (travel agencies, etc.) are not allowed. No urgency fees for any type of visa can be charged.

Visas can be issued only to applicants residing in the Hong Kong S.A.R. and Macao S.A.R.

Applicants under 18 years of age if traveling alone or with only one parent must submit, in addition to the normal documentation required, a birth certificate and a notary certificate of permission to travel from the legal guardian.

All applicants have to hold a passport/travel document with a validity exceeding the end of their intended stay in the Schengen area by at least 3 months.   No visas can be issued on passports/travel documents older than 10 years at time of entry.
